At our two parents evenings this week the school Web Team launched their Angels at the Gate project to encourage parents and relatives to visit their blogs online and leave a comment about their writing.
At Lyndon Green we have been blogging for over six years via the Class 3C blog. Now with some established tools in place and the enthusiasm of the children we are taking blogging to the next level to eventually involve the whole school.
Over the past few weeks class 4D and class 6C have been establishing their blogs and children in 3E, all of year 4 and 6c have had lessons about blogging. Next half term we hope to catch up with the other classes and Year 5 have been planned in for the first week back so watch out for their writing.
Angels at the Gate encourages parents, carers and relatives linked to the children at the school to go online to read the blogs and leave a positive comment.
Children from the Web Team had a display and leaflets to give out at Parents Evening and were able to encourage 70 parents to sign up. So a big thank you to all who did.
Links to the blogs are available at the school website.

Frankenweenie
The children in Year 4 are using the film Frankenweenie to support their writing through the Cornerstones project Blood Bones and Gory Bits.
The iTunes bookstore has just released a (at the time of writing) free book linked to the movie.
It uses an interactive approach to take the reader behind the scenes of the film.

Espresso for all
We now have home access to Espresso for all pupils in the school. This is made available via the It's Learning school learning platform. There is a vast amount of educational material to support homework and to extend learning. To access the materials children will need to remember their It's Learning log on information. If you are having trouble finding the site here is a link . You may have trouble with access if your browser does not allow secure access. When children log on they need to go to their year group dashboard and there is a link box to Espresso from there.
